New AFN chief
I'm happy to see that Shawn Atleo has been elected as the new Assembly of First Nations Chief. I heard Chief Atleo speak at the FNESC (First Nations Education Steering Committee) education conference last November in Vancouver and I was highly impressed. Congratulations, Cheif Atleo.

Reality
I'm in post-study leave mode since my return to work a few days ago. The nice thing about coming back to work is seeing colleagues and catching up on news since I've been away. It's lovely to be able to tell stories about the past 6 months, too. There are many. Getting back into a rhythm of work will come, but for now, the post-study leave report beckons and that is my project of choice. Fortunately, my calendar is fairly clear for the next little while, so that will help me make the transition from being away to being here. A colleague suggested a daily story on this blog to extend the life of the blog. Seems like a good plan, but I may have to delay starting for a couple of days at least while I continue to adjust. It's not culture shock exactly, but more like feeling everything is familiar and unfamiliar at the same time.
